Post Summer Syndrome

By Rania M.

When summer comes to a close, it can sometimes bring along with it a slight case of the goodbye-summer time blues. Your vacation is ending, the kids will be back to school, and life will begin to go back to its routine as usual. You may notice that you feel a bit lazier than normal, and the idea of getting back to real life can be daunting. There is a positive side to the end of summer too! Instead of viewing it as something sad, focus on the fresh new start that lies ahead!

Certain things you may have to deal with like new clothes for the new school year, going back to work, and getting your home in order after being away can actually be fun. So, if you just try and change your outlook a little bit, you may find a lot of what you have to do can be enjoyable instead of a hassle.

Any preparations you have to make for school can be used as an opportunity for bonding with the kids, depending on their age, get them involved and help get them excited and ready to resume school. If your house looks like a hurricane hit it after you have returned from a vacation, don’t panic – take your time and take pride in making your home the best it can be! Clean out that fridge before you get to the store – out with the old and in with the new!

Unpacking have you feeling cornered? Well, don’t only think about the massive amounts of laundry you have most likely accumulated – get excited about taking out all of your new purchases and special souvenirs. Don’t forget that there are also a lot of things to look forward to once autumn arrives.

Cooler weather will mean more time outside, getting back into your daily routine can be comforting, it may not seem that way now but once things take their course it will feel great to be back in action! Don’t let those end of summer blues get the best of you – there’s always winter break which is closer than you think and it is never too early to start planning for next summer too!
